Chelsea have reached a formal agreement with Sporting CP to sign 17-year-old sensation Geovany Quenda in a deal that could rise to £41.9 million (€50 million). According to Sky Sports News, the highly-rated Portugal U21 international will remain at Sporting for the 2025–26 season before making the move to Stamford Bridge in summer 2026.

Quenda’s Meteoric Rise
Quenda made his first-team debut at Sporting under Rúben Amorim, now Manchester United’s head coach. The versatile winger has featured 43 times this season, making a significant impact in Liga Portugal, where he’s currently tied for fourth in assists with five.
Capable of operating as a left or right wing-back, or further up the flank, Quenda had also been linked with a potential move to Old Trafford to reunite with Amorim.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports last November, Fabio Roque, a former Sporting academy coach, praised Quenda’s dedication and tactical maturity.
“Geo is so demanding of himself in defensive moments,” Roque said. “It reminds me of Bukayo Saka at the start of his career when he played as a full-back. But there’s only one Geovany Quenda. He brings something totally unique to the game.”
Roque believes Quenda ranks among the elite players born in 2007, alongside Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and fellow Chelsea-bound talent Estevão Willian, who is set to arrive in 2025.
